We were comissioned by Athlone Tidy Towns to design and install new Information and Wayfinding Signs for the brand new “Shannon Banks Nature Trail Walk”
Our brief was a complex one, because the signage has a lot of information based on surveys carried out on all the flora & fauna along the way, but we got there in the end… and our client is very happy with the result!
The trail begins in the shadow of Athlone Castle, the first sign being located on the quay wall. It covers a distance of about 5km, taking in an hour or so of wonderful sights and sounds.
The trail takes you mostly along the banks of the river Shannon, and then for some part along the banks of the old canal, then you’ll re-join the river bank as the trail takes you through the beautifu grassy Big Meadow. It is a looped walk that can be started in either direction.
Along the way you will be prompted along by finger post signs, and there are additional information signs telling you about all the flora and fauna, fish and wildlife to be enjoyed on the walk
Finally, I would like to thank Shay Hamilton and his colleagues in Athlone Tidy Towns for awarding us the design and and installation of all the signs in this project. We enjoyed doing it. They do tremendous work around the town, and this is definitely a project that both the Athlone Tidy Towns and Spectrum Signs can be proud of. Enjoy the trail!
